A chest of drawers is a functional piece of furniture that can turn a bedroom into something beautiful. Renewing a chest of drawers with a pop of colour can bring a room to life. With 2 easy steps prepare & paint, you can transform any tired old drawers.
If you’re using water based paint soak your brush in an inch of water for 10-15min, then remove and spin in between your hands to remove excess water. If you’re using oil-based paint, follow the same steps using turps.
Prepare your Drawers by applying an undercoat. Undercoating is important as raw timber is thirsty and you don’t want to end up applying 4 coats. Applying an undercoat also helps the top coat adhere better , giving you much brighter colour.
Use a mini roller or a quality brush to apply your top coat for that lovely smooth finish.
You don’t need to wash out your brush/ roller in between coats. Simply wrap in foil to keep it moist.
Apply 2nd coat to brighten the colour of your chest of drawers, making it more vibrant.
Congratulations, you’re done! Scrape any leftover stain back into the tin for re-use. Wash your brushes and applicator thoroughly so you can use them for your next project.
