Paint Brushes - FAQ

Why should I use Monarch paint brushes?

When it comes to getting the job done right the first time, premium Monarch brushes are the perfect choice for greater precision and control. Our handcrafted paint brushes feature a soft filament blend which guarantees a beautiful, smooth finish. Good quality paint brushes should not lose their shape or leave loose bristles on your walls.

How do I know which paint brush I should use for my painting project?

Monarch Detail & Finishing paint brushes come in a range of different shapes and sizes, ensuring you can easily choose the most suitable brush for your next project. Each brush is named after the project it is designed for, and all have unique handles that are fit for purpose. The best feature of this range is the super soft professional quality synthetic filament, which makes painting easier, quicker and more enjoyable.

If you’re a more experienced DIYer, the Monarch Expertech range is the perfect choice. Featuring a thicker filament that holds more paint, these brushes will give you superior coverage so you can get the job done faster.

What’s the best way to load a paint brush?

It is important to pre-soak your paint brush before use. Having a damp paint brush before you start allows the brush to pick up and release paint better than a dry brush. Stand it upright in an inch of water for 15 minutes and shake it out well.

When putting paint on your brush, make sure you don’t overload it. We recommend only dipping in an inch of paint from the tip. You’ll thank us later as it will also save you time on cleaning the brush afterwards!

How should I take care of my premium paint brush?

To make your premium Monarch paint brush last as long as possible, it is important to follow these easy steps:

High quality paint brushes can continue to be used for a long time if you look after them properly and don’t allow them to dry out.

  • When taking a break from painting, always load some paint on your brush and wrap it in aluminium foil to avoid the brush drying out. You don’t even need to wash them out at the end of the day.
  • Once you’ve completed your paint project, rinse the brush in a bucket of warm, soapy water and run a brush cleaning comb through the bristles.
